PRE-DEPARTURE

Passport

A passport is an official document issued by your country’s government that verifies your identity and citizenship. It's required for international travel.

Please note the following:

  • Check the expiration date before traveling. Many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date.

  • Some countries may also require a certain number of blank pages in your passport.

  • The passport should be in good condition, with no damaged or torn pages.

Passport & Visa

Visa

A visa is an official document that grants you permission to enter a country. Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and the country you are traveling to. It is your responsibility to check the visa and entry requirements for the countries you will visit.

We have created a manual for each destination detailing how to apply for your visa.

Please ensure you apply for your visa only through the link provided in our manual. We provide official government websites, and using other links may lead you to scam sites.

You can find the visa manual at the specific trip.

Travel Insurance

During our trip, travel insurance is not included; you will need to arrange it yourself. Upon arrival in the destination country, we will check whether your insurance meets the requirements; worldwide coverage, valid period, and if your first and last names are correctly listed. If these conditions are not met, you will unfortunately not be able to participate in the trip, and the consequences will be your own responsibility.

Travel insurance covers unexpected events that can disrupt or even cancel your trip. This includes things like medical emergencies, lost or stolen luggage, delays, and cancellations. Without insurance, these situations could result in high out-of-pocket costs.

Travel insurance comes in various forms, depending on your needs:

  • Medical Coverage: Reimburses medical expenses abroad, including hospital stays, doctor visits, and sometimes repatriation to your home country.

  • Baggage Coverage: Covers loss, theft, or damage to your luggage and personal belongings.

  • Trip Cancellation and Interruption Coverage: Reimburses costs if you need to cancel or interrupt your trip due to reasons like illness, family emergencies, or natural disasters.

  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance: Provides a payout in the event of serious injury or death during your trip.

If you have any questions or need assistance in choosing a travel insurance policy, we’re always here to help.

To ensure a safe journey, it's crucial to know which vaccinations are recommended or required for your destination. Required vaccinations can vary depending on the country and your personal health situation.

Common vaccinations we recommend include:

  • Hepatitis A and B

  • DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Polio)

  • Typhoid

  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)

  • Yellow Fever (please read below)

Yellow fever is found in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and South America. If you are traveling to countries where yellow fever is endemic a vaccination is strongly recommended or even mandatory. Many countries require proof of yellow fever vaccination if you are arriving from a country where the disease is present. This is often checked at the border. You may need to present a vaccination certificate, commonly referred to as the “yellow card,” to gain entry.

We advise you to contact a specialized travel clinic or your healthcare provider in advance to arrange your vaccinations and any necessary booster shots. By preparing properly and receiving the necessary vaccinations, you can travel with peace of mind and fully enjoy your adventure.

FAQs

Check out our FAQs for answers to many common questions

When packing for your trip, the main tip is to keep it light! Aim to bring no more than 15 kg of luggage.

Keep in mind that there will be opportunities to do laundry during the trip, so you don't need to overpack.

We strongly recommend bringing a backpack, as suitcases can be cumbersome and challenging to store on buses, under seats, or in other tight spaces. You will typically need to carry your own luggage on and off buses and trains, and up and down hotel staircases.

Given that every destination is different, we’ve prepared personalized packing lists for each specific location. These can be found on the trip’s page.
